What is Innovation Louisiana 2018?

The New Orleans BioInnovation Center holds a series of special events called Innovation Louisiana each November. These events educate innovators, provide networking opportunities, and showcase the groundbreaking scientific research being done within Louisiana universities and startups.

  • (Monday and Tuesday November 12-13) The Center’s annual Conference offers two days of in-depth sessions on developing scientific innovations and building successful startups. National investors and experts discuss a range of topics, from understanding your customer needs to finding funding.
  • (Wednesday November 14) The Louisiana University Technology Showcase highlights license-ready technologies from statewide institutions. See ground-breaking research taking place across Louisiana – innovations on display range from new disease treatments and vaccines to novel advanced materials and sensor technologies.
  • (Wednesday November 14) The BioChallenge is an exciting competition that highlights and supports emerging life science startups across Louisiana. Four top regional entrepreneurs pitch their ideas to expert judges for a shot at multiple prizes to fund growth and hiring.



Who should attend?

Attendees include entrepreneurs, university researchers, students, clinicians, investors, and the wider business community. Come out to learn about turning discoveries into viable products and services, build your network, and get inspired by other entrepreneurs. If you’re interested in scientific advancement and helping build a stronger regional economy, these events are for you!






Where are the events?

The conference will take place at the New Orleans BioInnovation Center (1441 Canal Street) on November 12-13.

The Tech Showcase and BioChallenge will be held at the Joy Theater (1200 Canal Street) on November 14.



Do I have to attend all the events?

You do not have to attend every event to participate. But you’re welcome to attend as many events as you can – we hope you’ll join us for all of them!



How much do the events cost?

The early-bird rate $119. Student discounts are available.

Conference registration is $149. Walk-in conference tickets may be available at a higher rate, but we suggest you purchase tickets in advance because tickets may sell out before the conference begins. 

The Tech Showcase and BioChallenge competition are free and open to the public!



How do I sign up?

You can sign up for one or more of the events here.



Are meals provided?

Conference attendees will receive a continental breakfast and a lunch buffet on Monday and Tuesday. Lunch will be provided at the Joy Theater on Wednesday for Tech Showcase and BioChallenge attendees.



Where can I find parking?

Metered street parking is available throughout downtown New Orleans. There are also several public parking lots and garages that offer low-cost daily parking within a few blocks of the event venues, including on Rampart Street, Canal Street, Cleveland Avenue, and elsewhere. These are independently owned lots not affiliated with the Center.



Where should I stay?

We are currently negotiating a reduced rate room plan with one of New Orleans’ finest hotels. Please subscribe to our newsletter to find out more details as they are announced.





Are sponsorships available?

We love bringing more partners into our community through various sponsor opportunities – email us to find out how you can get involved.



How can I become an exhibitor?

The conference will feature a Research Product Vendor Showcase on Tuesday, November 13. If you are a product vendor interested in exhibiting at a table during this event, email us to find out about availability. This is the only exhibit option during our 2018 events.





Are Innovation Louisiana volunteer opportunities available?

We have numerous volunteer shifts available, and we’d welcome your help! Email us to find out about volunteer shifts throughout the week.
